In fact, it's very likely that a song which was typical hard rock with these chords could end up sounding boring, cliched, like we'd heard it a million times before. The addition of the funk groove and the extra percussion might help it sound more striking in the end. Tremor Christ didn't ever rock out until much later in the song. Sounds like the same will happen here.

The boys transcend "ranks".
They should clearly be defined solely in terms of Hulk Hogan's mustache.

RM would cease to exist if this was true.

I just read the front page. I'm not sure why but I wasn't assuming this artwork to be anything to do with Lightning Bolt itself. Does anyone think it is?

Yeah that doesn't sound like Stone's style at all.

I was going to say, it could've easily become another Amongst the Waves. And I like that song but didn't want another one.

Your post gave me a sarcastic laugh because you described what is my opinion of most Stone's songs since 10. This doesn't mean necessary bad or that i dislike every single song Stone wrote or co-wrote btw. It does imply that i cringe every time i read here that more Stone is the answer to all PJ problems though.

The PJ 20 "back in theaters" thing is a dumb marketing effort.

The only way I can top that is if the next snippet ends up being described as Sleight of Hand meets The Black Eyed Peas

Was this one of the Jeff ones? I wondered if it might be Stone because other vignettes have their songwriters featured... I'm assuming.
