Watched The Missing Link. I normally like Laika, but this was petty unremarkable. Pretty to look at, but a bit run-of-the-mill.
Oddly enough the dollar theater I saw it in was packed. I expected it to be empty.

I've been behind on movies since the beginning of the year but watched Vice over the weekend. I liked it but I can see how some people would not. Either way Bale did a great job.

John Wick 3. Part 2 bored me and I don't know why I bothered with this one, but it was really fun. Much more inventive and brutal than the other one (I never saw the first one). It was a lot less stuffy too. It's ridiculously dumb.

I'm thinking of renting Mars Attacks tonight. I haven't seen it in ages.

You know, if you remove all the world-building from the first two movies 3 isn't too bad.BurtReynolds wrote:John Wick 3. Re: What movies are you watching?
I also watched it this week, and I couldn't agree more with this review (from NYT):Biff Pocoroba wrote:I've been behind on movies since the beginning of the year but watched Vice over the weekend. I liked it but I can see how some people would not. Either way Bale did a great job.
Also, why didn't they just cast Chevy Chase because that's who Bale looked like:As biography, in other words, the movie works pretty well. As history, though, it’s another story — at once tendentious and undercooked, proposing a reductive, essentially conspiratorial account of recent events.
“The Big Short” used the interplay of personalities to illuminate the workings of a complex system, but “Vice” moves in the opposite direction. The motley pageantry of our politics — the endless arguments about race, class, religion, ideology, sex, region and heritage that have defined the republic since the beginning — boils down to a single personality. All you really need to know about the world today is that everything wrong with it is Dick Cheney’s fault.

Watched the first Matrix for the first time in quite awhile. This movie is the archetype for so many things, it's insane. Except for the weird "love brings him back to life" there at the end, practically a perfect movie.

Over the weekend watched Shazam for the 2nd time. I really enjoyed this the first time I saw it, 2nd time - not as much.
Us - this was...... interesting I guess. The 'twist' was pretty easy to call from the beginning however

Colossal. Has to be one the worst movies I've seen in years. Who ever thought the script was worth filming should be fired.
