Out of state protestors from Duluth...Minnesota?
We're talking about out-of-towners, not necessarily out-of-staters. You listed a few MN towns.
You seem to be the one implying that being a Democrat is directly equatable to being antifa. The idea that the presence of blue voters in Des Moines, Iowa means there could be an antifa community there is laughable.
I'll refer you back to this quote. You seem to be implying that radicalized right-wingers can come from rural areas, but radicalized lefties can't.

Fake news though, right?
You have the intelligence of a doughy infant.
Weren’t you just discrediting all the main stream news sources I was siting? I’m confused as to which news sources are sanctioned by you. It seems to be whichever one you want it to be in that moment. I can’t keep up.

And whoever these people are, they ain’t flying in.
Do you have a source for this, or do you just know it? MN is a blue state whose electoral votes haven’t gone to a Republican presidential candidate since Nixon, with a Democrat governor, a radical leftist AG, 2/2 Dem US senators, and 5/8 Dem US House reps. With more Ds than Rs, wouldn’t it stand to reason that there are therefore more people on the extreme left than on the extreme right?
I know there is an absolute horde of racism within 500 miles of Minneapolis because I grew up in Sioux Falls, 200 miles from Minneapolis. And because I lived for a year in Pipestone, MN...180 miles from Minneapolis. And because I spent summers living in Sioux City, IA and working in Le Mars...250 miles from Minneapolis (and part of Steve fucking King’s constituency). Because I started my career in Ivanhoe...170 miles from Minneapolis. I know because my wife’s family stretches from Howard County up into Redfield, SD, 200 miles straight west of Minneapolis. And because I used to work concerts in Fargo, 235 miles from Minneapolis.

If people are coming into Minnesota from out of state, I know at least two of the closest states like family, and there sure as shit ain’t nothing but Fox country there.
None of this means you know a damn thing about Minneapolis. And you definitely don’t know more about the city than Macphisto or me. We live here. I’ve lived here for 40 years. You don’t know Jack shit.

Let’s walk back through this.

1. Minneapolis officials said most of the arrests were people from out of state.

2. You then mentioned antifa.

3. I argued that, if they were from out of state, the odds of them being racists was far higher than antifa, because of the makeup of the surrounding states.

4. Macphisto responded by demanding what source I had for suggesting the states around MN are racist hubs. I answered.

5. Minnesota then failed to present any evidence that most of the arrests were from out of state, anyways.

Anyone who thinks Antifa is to the left what white nationalism is to the right, is either trying to fool themselves, or trying to fool someone else. Antifa is a relatively small, specific left wing group that, in real life, nobody hears or thinks about, until someone on the right starts blaming them for something. If you're using the term to mean rioters, so be it. But let's not pretend that because it's technically on the left, it has any meaningful impact on the left itself. We all know it's a real thing, but to suggest any significant chunk of the left supports anything about it, I don't see the evidence.

They’ll keep claiming it’s justified because probably, legally, it is justified under their policies that could be decades old. Just because they are legal policies, don’t make them right.

I work for a city and police department near the St. Louis area. It’s a small department. Police officers and supervisory staff are my co-workers. I deal with them everyday. This department has very stringent hiring practices to weed out possible problem officers. There’s a probationary period that if the new officer isn’t meeting the standards of the department, they can be dismissed. Commanders are constantly updated and enforcing policies to better reflect a more transparent agency. Officers go through a lot of training, and with a lot of medical / doctor facilities in our city, CIT training is expanded. They pride themselves on de-escalating conflicts with minimal use of force tactics.

A lot of this happened pre-Ferguson, but it’s also been expanded Post-Ferguson as well as state/county justice guidelines were changed.

I think all departments need to take a long hard look at their deficiencies and push for changes. It’s the only way you can get the public to trust you again.
None of this matters so long as police unions continue to exist. Qualified immunity is another issue, but thats just about Civil litigation.

Bad actors such as the coward of Broward County will get rehired and receive backpay due to union rules.
yes, independent contractors working for private security companies would be better.
Public sector unions shouldn't exist, especially not police unions. If you prefer the status quo where cops can murder and keep their jobs, at least own it.
This is absolutely not binary and to attempt to say so is crazy.

Police unions as they exist are the number one roadblock to actually firing or disciplining bad officers. I can't imagine a union that existed only to bargain for compensation and let the employer set all workplace and punishment policies.

State level LEOBAR laws are another big issue, but I'm not hearing about rolling those back, probably due to public sector solidarity.q

I'd word it differently. It's white nationalism versus antifa. Donald Trump is president. What's the highest office held by an Antifa supporter? The evidence shows the left actually does keep its extremist elements in check. And let's not forget this is happening because of white on black violence caught on camera.

this is exactly what your fearless leader does, too, when he's losing an argument... or he just turns and walks away.
