So the Republicans are holding, and Democrats are forcing votes on documents and witnesses so that Susan Collins and gang are forced to make committed, on the record votes...and can’t complain later that Mitch didn’t give them a chance to decide (ie “deeply troubled”).

That seems to me like Democrats have decided the impeachment is a lost cause, but they’ve looked at the incredibly one-sided polling and decided to maximize its power as an election decider.

This was really the only option they ever had, other than to not begin impeachment. I don’t know which option was better but I’m glad they aren’t trying to manufacture a 3rd option and waste it.

the third option was to do the usual 'fuck it up and lose their spine' that they've perfected so don't count that one out.
