It was a lot of OK. I loved the idea that they took high fantasy stories and then extended the time frame past the Big Bad being defeated. I mean, where does one go after that? The stories always just end but this posited one with a future. Very interesting.
One thing I didn't like was how the story didn't follow its own rules. No one but a Bright can touch and use the wand so why does everyone want to grab it? Because they might be able to? Ok then.
And the constant scenes of people talking/yelling over each other. I'm glad I had subtitles on, frankly, or I wouldn't have been able to follow all the swearing going on. Which is another thing...it was like listening to that Limp Bizkit song where he's counting how many times he's said fuck. I get it, you're on Netflix and you're edgy but give it a fucking rest.
Can't wait for the sequel. I hope they find a way to bring the Big Bad back and that's the movie.

now that i see it was written by max landis, i'll probably watch. he's a manic, crazy person, but he has a good mind for breaking down character and story (which doesn't always translate well into the movies/shows his writing turns into unfortunately)

I enjoyed it. Really liked how they built up this world with the creatures of LOTR and our modern world, into a sort of Men In Black/Training Day movie. Parts of the story could have been better, and the chemistry between the two cops didn’t really connect until the last half an hour.

This is one of the best movies ever made, it needed a sequel!

Just saw that Ayers did a lot of rewrites on the flick to get it to production. The script is what I had an issue with in Suicide Squad too. Hmm.

He's just had foot surgery so it should be easy to catch him.
