Its easy to demonize any world leader. To destroy an economy to prove how wrong an economic system is, if it isn't in line with the US economic system.....simply through debt or bribes....Nicaragua and the Sandanistas ...informative decade on US foreign policy.

Its not an accident that North Korea still exists. it has a deterrent, its nuclear capability- a way to defend itself. Washington doesn't like that, even if by itself it poses no direct threat to US sovereignty.

This was a pretty interesting documentary about the current state of Venezuela, and what went wrong. Apparently Deutsche Welle bought the rights to the documentary and tried to show it on their spanish cable channel in Venezuela, but they were only able show few minutes before the venezuelan officials blocked it.

There's some tankies/ tankie adjacents that believe US sanctions were the most significant cause of Venezuelas economic distress.

Anyone want to make a case defending this view?

Has the military turned on Maduro?

Interesting to see the phraseology different outlets use depending upon their position. The Guardian and al-Jazeera call it an attempted coup while moderate-to-conservative US and Euro media call it an uprising.

CNN changed their headline. Earlier it said Coup underway, now it just says Uprising.

Defenestration. A wonderful word. Meaning to die by falling from or being pushed from a window.
From the French for window ‘finetre’.
