I did that last week with Nevermind and that MTV show they did after In Utero.
Felt great.

Overplayed as it is, "Teen Spirit" is still undeniable. That chorus is pure infectiousness.
It's a little long though

Great song, but too over produced. I kinda get what Cobain complaint about now.

"In Bloom" is always better than I remember. Another great chorus

Grohl's drumroll in the chorus to "Come As You Are" ("memoryyyyyyeah"--baddabaddabaddabaddabadda) is a little touch of genius and really elevates the song.
The cross-panning during the guitar solo is real annoying

I really like the bass in the "Breed" chorus, how heavily distorted it is and the little lift it does after "we don't have to breed". I'm still not much of a fan of this song-- so far I've liked each song a little less than the previous one.
Great, more cross-panning. I'm glad Butch Vig lightened up on this stupid trick for Siamese Dream.

"Lithium" has always been a giant snoozer to me. I don't like this song at all. It's not catchy enough to pull off so much repetitiveness.

I always want the chorus to be bigger, louder, messier.
Yeah the bridge is good but it can't save the song

Butch didn’t mix Nevermind, you can blame
Andy Wallace for that.

Finally. Geez.
On to "Polly". I really like the tenderness in the delivery here, and the harmonies in the chorus.
Boy these lyrics sure are a bummer huh?

"Territorial Pissings". A bit of punk energy. Quite welcome after the last two songs. Sounds a bit like New Day Rising-era Husker Du.

Hahaha I love the ridiculousness of the ending

"Drain You". I really like this song. I remember being super spooked out by it as a kid because of that instrumental break.
The chorus is gross! Don't spit chewed meat into each other's mouth. That can't be hygienic
The harmony in "-poison apple". Nice touch

OK that instrumental break is still unsettling. The squeaky toy. The random hissing sounds. The scream at the very end. It still feels really dark.
Is the song a slightly faster tempo coming out of that break, or is it just me?

Great song. Probably my favorite so far, EXCEPT...
My actual favorite song on this album, "Lounge Act". The only song from this album that I still listen to often.

The bass is so slinky dark and fluid, and the chords butt up so well against the feverish and fractured vocal melody. Just great pop songwriting. And Kurt sounds great here. Great contrast between his low register and his screaming voice, and how he can deploy both in the same song to great dramatic effect. Yep. The best song in the album
