The Decemberists look like they are making a stylistic change based on their newest release. More of a synth pop sound as opposed to their earlier modern indie hipster folk.

Saw them open for the Offspring in the 90s. They were punk. I believe they took an emo turn in the 2000s.

Hum's first album is basically by a different band.

Though Metallica's latest stuff hearkens back to their early stuff there was a lot in the middle there that was a long way off from where they started.
