They were the only really good fighting games. Sorry, Killer Instinct and Eternal Champions.

That's not why I wasn't allowed to play with them, but I think there's an interesting correlation there. Especially reading the type of RMers here who had Genesis. Bunch of drug abusing, nihilistic rogues. All of you.

And the gameplay was simple to master, and still totally challenging. The weapons upgrades and bonuses and stuff were fun and cool. It was just a great arcade style game. One of my favorites ever.tragabigzanda wrote:One of Contra's greatest strengths was the immediate intensity: The music rolls, you're dropped into the jungle, and the enemies start coming right at you. It started at 10, and never let up. I wish that there were more games today that could effectively pull this off.PHATJ wrote:Contra and Contra 2 for SNES were fucking awesome. Two player mode was so much fun too. I remember spending one summer just playing the shit out of that with my brother and my neighbor friend. I need to bust that out again.
True but MK 2 is a good one.tragabigzanda wrote:Accurate.cutuphalfdead wrote:Street Fighter 2 > Mortal Kombat
