Joey, stop shaking your head. even though the core concept of the entire star wars mythology is built around the idea that the emotional reason why you do something is more important than what you do, and Empire and Jedi talk about it explicitly, it is totally unreasonable for you to expect someone to remember that sentiment when it is voiced by a girl.

rose’s line is probably the best encapsulation of the light side/dark side dichotomy in all 10 movies. and while holdo and luke clearly sacrifice themselves out of love (see also obi wan and luke in jedi) finn is clearly acting out of hate. he doesnt say ‘i have ti save my friends.’. he says, seething with anger ‘i cant let them win’
