I can't come up with the word to describe Davis's vocal tone at around 2:28, but I feel like it creeps up a lot in this musical arena, Marilyn Manson perhaps being the most notable example. It's like that little noise Kurt Cobain makes at the beginning of "Lounge Act" expanded into full song form. Is there an accepted term for this?

It's kinda like a vocal fry, but I don't know if that's what it's actually called while singing or just while speaking.
