If they only play 2 or 3 when they do it, they become destinations. I wonder what percentage of attendees are actually from Seattle, Chicago, and Boston respectively.
Next summer they could play 7 total shows in Dodger stadium, Arrowhead, Comerica, and Yankee stadium with exclusive merch and have the same success. They have figured out how to maximize profit with the least amount of time spent working, and this fan base has shown it will travel and spend stupid amounts of money on merch that is sold in somewhat limited quantities.

Surely not. Judging by the sea of 40 years in red lightening bolt tshirts at the big day out I think merch sales were fine. It was like a communist rally!

i heard the band has market research into how often 40-year-old white male Australians buy a new shirt, so they schedule their Aussie tours around that time frame
