Option 3 is cool, but with all the Nintendo people on here, sorta feels like a Mario vs. Zelda final is inevitable.
Not necessarily a bad thing.

Option 3a:
1) Head to Head teams to determine the best team
2) Take the 20 games from the top 2 teams, 1 game from each other list (selected by that list's owner) and 2 wild cards, then drop straight into a top 32 MM tournament.

I was thinking of doing something similar but expand it to 64. The first 5 rounds plus an additional 4.
