In general I adore hot sauce/Tabasco and think it should be added to everything. However, the problem with that is that once you get hooked nothing tastes right without it. Which is wrong. So, I'm gonna say nay. But not because I'm against the flavor in and of itself but because once one is used to hot sauce one requires it on everything and that sucks.

You’ll grow out of it.

My number one food rule is: You do you. If you like it, have at it buddy. I'll never judge you for doing it. But if the chowder is made properly, it doesn't need it, is my take.
