I saw Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at a very small venue here three years ago. Excellent show. Lots of DBT stuff and a fun American Girl cover.

Me too! I'm glad it will be out before I see him in July.

Hell yeah. Got like 6th row for Miami in July. I still spin the last two records on the reg. I hope he is able to maintain the momentum he started with Southeastern. He has really hit a stride the last several years. Really looking forward to this release.

When they were in the studio he teased it as a rock and roll album. Southeastern and SMTF were more folk/pop, so I'm curious to see what he thinks of as rock and roll these days.

There's a very short studio clip out there somewhere, but it's pretty inconclusive. Just a few seconds of feedback/droning over a very basic riff.

A single has to be on the way soon. 24 Frames came out about 2 months before the album IIRC.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm hoping he means more songs like Decoration Day, Outfit or even Flying Over Water. Honestly I would be totally happy if he stayed on a similar path as the last couple albums but he is also a much more capable guitar player than those albums suggest. I'd be really surprised if it sucks.

That's interesting. Here he says "almost half" of the album is uptempo and loud. A bit of a walkback from "we're making a rock and roll record." Either way, can't wait to hear it.

I like it. Reminiscent of the sound he had on his self-titled album.

solid. I hope the EW article is a bit exaggerated though about him singing about white man's guilt the whole album. I'm all down for a few political songs as long as they don't suck but wasn't really what I was hoping for from Isbell. I'll reserve my judgment until I hear some more. First single is good so probably shouldn't let an article sway my expectations.

that record store day release was nowhere to be found day of. Most on Ebay are going at like $90
