Better Call Saul is SO much better than GoT
Of course, but that hasn't influenced voters in the past.
That’s why I pay no attention to awards ceremonies.
Killing Eve, Succession, and Ozark were all better than GOT as well. GOT is the weakest show outside of This Is Us. In no way does this mean that it won't win.

Agreed. I could give or take on Schitt's Creek and Mrs. Maisel is overrated, I think, but the rest are unimpeachable. I do think it says something interesting about our culture that a few years ago the best shows were prestige dramas (with trash like the Big Bang Theory getting the comedy emmy), whereas now all the exciting shows are comedy/hybrid and most of the big dramas are boring.

Of all the award ceremonies the Emmys seem to nominate the best releases for the most part. There's always the random Big Band Theory or House of Cards, but they mostly get it right.

GoT absolutely deserves to be nominated. Separate episodes from the larger storyline and they were almost as good as earlier seasons. Voters vote on individual actors episodes.

Looking at that list of lead actress for drama ... uh is it possible to just skip a category? No one deserving.

Lol you're joking. Linney and Oh were both great.

Apparently Julia Roberts is sour that she was snubbed for her role on that awful Homecoming show.

I'd be interested to know what you didn't like about Homecoming. I don't think it was the strongest show of the year but it was leaps and bounds better (and more interesting) than This Is Us.

Oh it was definitely better than that soap opera This Is Us trash. Actually, what I didn't like about Homecoming was Roberts. It always felt like she was trying too hard to give some obscure/unique performance. I can't really explain it but just overall didn't feel like she ever felt comfortable in the role

Hmm, I don't know that I disagree--there was something really static and distant about her character that went beyond the nature of the role itself. I'm a little surprised it didn't get a drama nom, especially given the stylized production, but I'm not surprised she didn't get the actress nom.

The days of solely getting a nomination because a movie star does TV are coming to an end. There's just too much TV now. It still happens, but it's not a guarantee.

This is what came to mind when I saw she was salty. She probably assumed it was a slam dunk cause she's movie star Julia Roberts doing TV.

Yeah, this is probably the case. But I'm trying to be less cynical in my life so I'm just going to give the benefit of the doubt here and say that maybe she's just really proud of the work. Maybe?

I didn't watch the show myself. But I've heard good things.

That's so awesome.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to S3. I know my wife was a little underwhelmed by S2 (though she adored S1). But I liked a lot of the subplots going on in S2. I thought Bash Howard was a standout last season. Really dug his storyline.
