Living the dream
Makes a man wanna scream
Light a match and burn it all down
Head back home to the mountain
Far away from all the pull
All the journalists and sycophants
Building their brands
And all the traveling, trophies and award show stands
And all the haters wishing they was in my band
Sorry boys, the bus is plum full

"Make Art Not Friends" lyrics are definitely on my wavelength
For some reason I get resistance from friends when I try to turn them on to Sturgill, so just wanted to say everyone in this thread makes me happy!

it's killing me trying to figure out which classic country artist he sounds like, does anyone else hear it?
Also thanks to this thread for turning me onto his stuff. I remember reading about his Nirvana cover when it came out but never got into it for whatever reason. I went through everything but for his newest last night while working in the garage and it's great stuff. can't wait to listen to the new one, especially after reading the thread reactions.

His voice is very Waylon-esque. That’s usually the comparison, particularly on his older stuff. Glad you’re digging him, he’s the real deal.
Local record store had one last red marble vinyl in stock, so I’ll be picking that up after work!

Just watched the latest Sturgill interview on Joe Rogan. He also thanks Rogan in the credits of the Sound & Fury film on Netflix. I just wanted to mention this in case it would make anyone feel conflicted.

I was trying to rank his albums in my head but they are all dead even pretty much excusing Hightop Mountain.

Fastest Horse In Town might be my favorite song on the album.

It’s kind of stunning actually that the music could be so good and the production so awful
