Well, I found that Parkland joke to be hilarious and correct. He's not making fun of the victims, he's calling out the incorrect perspective that being a survivor inherently provides you with anything special to offer on the political issue.

I don't know on what scale of rapey it falls on but it seems more than just weird. Anyways me not being interested in him anymore doesn't mean you can't be.
Masturbating for an audience is definitely a "needs explicit, prior permission" situation.

Didn't he get permission? I don't think he locked anyone in the room with him, either. Just leave, people.

He did, but it's a question of power dynamics and consent.

If my boss comes in to my office and asks to masturbate in front of me, I'm saying no and walking the f out... and I'm not gonna wait years to tell people about it.

Personal experience is not a bad start in a political matter. Being engaged in and caring about a subject, is even more important.

The Argonaut wrote:The Parkland jokes were juvenile, offensive, entirely unfunny, and stupid as hell. BUT the thing to remember is that it was not part of some polished Louis special. It was leaked, not put out by Louis. That's how comedians develop stuff, in front of an audience. When you're alone, something might seem funny and appropriate, but then you say it to an audience and it makes you feel bad or you get a bad reaction and you realize and adjust. I am 100% positive that most of the introspective, brilliant jokes we know from Louis's specials started out as juvenile, raunchy jokes that he developed into something meaningful over time by working them out in front of audiences. This Parkland shit is maybe something he would've abandoned and never included in a special in any form. It's a little unfair to criticize and compare a leaked set to a polished special.
Making a joke saying the only reason a kid lived thru that is because they pushed a fat kid out of the way is wrong on every level. It totally discounts and dismisses the horror that those kids and their parents went thru. Polished special or not, it’s just wrong. He sure as shit wouldn’t be making jokes like that if it was his own kids’ school this happened at. He’s a fucking douchebag that no excuse can cover for.

The Argonaut wrote:It was a terrible joke. It might not even qualify as a joke. It is shitty and my estimation of Louis has been lowered because of it, if I'm being honest. But these long think pieces about how Louis is a different kind of comedian now based on this leaked set are totally off the mark
That doesn’t make it ok for him to tell jokes like that, tho

It’s just baffling. From the shitbag “you just pushed a fat kid in front of you” line to his complaining that they aren’t being rebellious because they are trying to change society rather than “finger banging and doing Jell-O shots.” It’s like the standup material Brett Kavanaugh would field test.
