well I don't think that's true. I'm sure there's PJ somes but not especiallys
I guess I just don't find the winter and springtime line any more or less cliched than the other one you quoted. Giving someone (or yourself) "enough rope to hang themselves with" is a common cliche in conversation, so I also think it is here. But it's also effective.

I think this is very good, though: "I can't see what's next from this lonely overpass; hang my head and count my steps till another car goes past."

This song isn't so much of a skipper for me but I wouldn't go out of my way to hear it. It's not so meh but it doesn't click with me, just with this thread being created I might give it a chance again down the line though.
However just thinking about it, hey I do like it but I remember some guy shouting THUMBING MY WAY a thousand times at Berlin '10 and thinking naah not here outside, not today.

Honestly i dont think ive listened to this song the whole way through besides the day i bought the album..def a skipper for me...idk its just too boring...The album is full of gems, but there are a couple sub par songs...I used to skip Save You too but thats growing on me hardcore...Its great when you rediscover a song you didnt like at first and you learn to appreciate it...alot of RA is like that...

I've always loved this tune ever since I heard the solo version before Riot Act. So brutally rough. I was going through a pretty rough patch at the time and a lot of these lines hit close to home.

I cannot get into this song. Both the guitar melody and vocal melody are so boring to me.

I go back and forth between loving it and being bored by it. So I guess that equals out to it being a nice song.

It's a nice winter tune but you definitely need to be in the right mood for it. Works when you listen to Riot Act as an album, but I find it difficult to put into a mix. I remember being disappointed by it when I first listened to Riot Act as I usually loved their acoustic songs and for some reason it left me unmoved.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

I love this song. It's like a warm blanket of melancholy. The sound is so thick and fills the whole room when the band sets in. Everything just sounds so wonderful and then there's Ed on top with a to me subtle and emotional rather than boring vocal performance. The part that starts at 2:03 for example is just so good with the organ that somehow lifts Eddie's melody. And every instrument just sounds perfect for a song like this. 4 stars or maybe even 5 sometimes.

I have such a hard-on for a nice organ underneath a song.

I got quoted out of context for saying exactly the same thing...

First track I heard off of Riot Act, thanks to windows media player offering a stream. Beautiful, cliches and all.

you were right, KD. the version on pj20 is a lot better than the studio version. I was poking around on there a bit afterwards and I think this is a cd that deserves more attention than I gave it.

:hooray:

It really is a good collection, especially that stretch of material I rambled on about last night. The opening flashback sequence of the 2006 "Release" into the 1990 "Alive" is pretty crafty, too.

I love the Benaroya Hall version. It's a nice song, especially live. It's louder and comes to life more.
