I just looked back at the list i did and I've got SOLAT 11 and Breath at 19, and for probably at least the last 10 or 12 years its been SOLAT over Breath, but before that it was always the other way around
I used to like Breath a lot more, too. I'm not sure when it shifted. I think maybe I just listened to Breath so much more than SOLAT that one day SOLAT felt like a new song and Breath felt too familiar.
That, and I learned how to play SOLAT on guitar. So that endeared it to me a bit. I spent more time "studying" it. But really, they're almost interchangeable. I love them both. I had to rank one above the other and on that day it was SOLAT.

SOLAT every day...i love that song, specially the studio version.
Breath is incredible, but at the time it was the "rare" one, more like a gem than a real song.

The rare part seems to make a difference for me as well, things they don't play live as much get upgraded a lot of times for me because im hoping to eventually hear them live and ill listen to the studio versions much more. The biggest one for me was leash, when the leash sign campaigns were going on i loved listening to it, but now its back to just an ok song for me since they play it regularly now, and I've gotten it live 5 times or so

Guys, the shortened version has always been SOLAT. Please stop trying to call it "state."

Take it up with Pearl Jam, fella.
I've used "SOLAT" in the past too but the capitalisation of the "O" and "A" bother me (and "SoLaT" looks like I'm tRyInG tO wRItE aLL CraZyYyY-LiKE.) In any case, it's nowhere near as bad as when Pearl Jam fans used to refer to Small Town as EWBTCIAST.

I call it Elderly Woman b/c I don't like conflating it with John Mellencamp.

State of Love and Trust was one the first obsessed about tracks for me. I'd heard Alive and Even Flow but it wasn't until the 92 MTV awards that I was really dumbstruck by the band. That version of Jeremy changed my life. I went into my brothers room to get his copy of Ten, couldn't find it but found the singles soundtrack. Breath was nice enough but that opening riff of State was huge. I must have played it 10 times in a row. Within weeks I'd bought my own copies of Ten and Singles. Then it was discovering the Bsides.
So State is a top 10 track for me. In fact when pushed I'd probably put it top 5.

Argument is invalid unless you start calling it "y go"

LIVE
Do people say "SOLAT" out loud when referring to the song? "Hey, how good was SOLAT in the second encore?" Because, if they do, that would be dumb.

Drawing the setlist takes longer than the current live versions of evenflow.
