(Note: it is possible this song's lyrics are also about sex. I have not paid attention to them)

Re: Songs you like by musicians you normally don't like
My #1 example of a song I absolutely love by a band I'm more or less comprehensively familiar with and generally can't stand is "The Divided Sky" by Phish. The guitar in the second half of that (11 minute) song is some of the prettiest, most thoughtfully composed lead guitar I can call to mind -- just lovely stuff.
I think Eric Clapton mostly makes dull blues-rock but I love his version of "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" from the MTV Unplugged (the original Derek and the Dominos version is, to me, more boring blues rock).
Likewise Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the instrumental "Lenny."
I've generally grown to find Modest Mouse pretty irritating over the years, but I still think "Float On" is a really enjoyable single.

I think you'd like the song "Tearjerker" a lot.theplatypus wrote:I still think they suck hard, I like this song because it doesn't really sound like them
I loved RHCP growing up. A lot of their music has worn poorly for me and I couldn't care less about their current output, but I could definitely still make a playlist of songs I really enjoy, "Universally Speaking" being one of them (lots of By the Way actually, my favorite album by them by some distance).

Nah, I think this is more for artists for whose larger body of work you have a more conscious, specific dislike, save for one or two exceptions that anomalously seem to transcend said dislike, not just a general lack of awareness of everything except one song.

I don't think I have ever listened to Phish even once in my entire life.Kevin Davis wrote:My #1 example of a song I absolutely love by a band I'm more or less comprehensively familiar with and generally can't stand is "The Divided Sky" by Phish. I have the vague notion that they are a jam band and that's it

Billy Breathes is a really enjoyable album. I really don’t care for almost anything else by Phish.E.H.
