Another one who’s only made three movies: S. Craig Zahler. Not sure if I’m ready to call Bone Tomahawk excellent but it’s pretty close, and the two that followed definitely are.

David Fincher is definitely in the conversation, for me. Everything up to Gone Girl I would call "excellent."

Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite sci fi movies, but I'm well aware of it's flaws. I'll excited to see what Villeneuve will do. He's one that could get mentioned here.
