lol we're talking about a PJ Cameron beat. 100% after the fills. No doubt. Can't believe you're questioning this. Unbelievable.theplatypus wrote:That's not necessarily the case. Could be a contrapuntal little flourish

Okay calm down. Matt can get a little off kilter too. He wrote "Evacuation" ffs

Re: Who Ever Said
Matt can definitely get very creative and off kilter. The problem is, if he throws in a contrapuntal fill it would confuse Ed. That's the only excuse I can think of for all his boring 4/4 PJ beats.

Yes a contrapuntal fill would confuse the singer and so is a no go, that's reasonable.tree_ wrote:Matt can definitely get very creative and off kilter. The problem is, if he throws in a contrapuntal fill it would confuse Ed. That's the only excuse I can think of for all his boring 4/4 PJ beats.

There is not a strong correlation between musicianship and songwriting ability. He's brings the latter to the band. The best muscians in the world are people we've never heard of because they can't write songs.

I think Eddie's biggest weakness is his uninventive guitar playing.

I'm digging the sound of this clip. The searing guitar underneath is very Soundgarden to my ears.

I mean, most of the greatest songs in the world are three chords.Mike wrote:I think Eddie's biggest weakness is his uninventive guitar playing.
I think eds lack of guitar knowledge is actually a strength. Im not saying he's a strong guitar player, though he's gotten much better, but a song like grievance to guaranteed, to betterman, to end of the road, 4/20, mfc, sometimes...
thats a pretty wide range of guitar song writing.

Re: Who Ever Said
I think when he's good, he can be really good and inventive; if you just play the Insignificance parts on guitar, even though it's simple for the most part it's still pretty striking. But I think he can also be a little unimaginative, or to put it a better way, I think it can sound like he lets the first idea just be the idea without much (if any) revision. Sometimes that works, but I think sometimes things need more refinement.Strat wrote:I mean, most of the greatest songs in the world are three chords.Mike wrote:I think Eddie's biggest weakness is his uninventive guitar playing.
