I’m not in love with Gigaton ATM, but I certainly don’t hate it. Sonically, I think it’s their best album since Riot Act.

Vocally, I think Ed sounds pretty solid. That theory that KD put out there with Ed and more syllables seems pretty solid to me.

For the actual songs, most are in the “pretty good” range for me right now.

I expected to read more angry at Gigaton posts in here. Guess most people are really digging the album.

Right now, this thread is:

1st 4 songs are good. Got me too excited.
Alright was appropriately named, just tolerable
7 o Clock - too cheesey with the synth, probably better live when they hopefully drop some of that production
Never Destination - boring song until the last 30 seconds which has a killer ending bridge phase
Take the Long Way - boring song until the last 30 which has a killer ending bridge phase
Buckle Up - Perhaps worst PJ song ever
Comes Then Goes - It's ok but goes on too long
Retrograde - Really grown on me, think it's a good'n
River Cross - It's okay, goes in bit too long.

Overall better than Backspacer I'd say but not as good as LB or Avocado that's for sure.

I didn’t like DOTC, so the entire experience has been a bummer this time around. The music is different, but I wasn’t looking for different. I think it’s been pretty “different” since Binaural, meaning not good m. Been with them since the beginning when I was an adolescent, but they haven’t dropped a really good album in 20 years.

I too dislike the album, but I’ll go to shows anytime I can. They are a touring band these days. Basically, they are the Grateful Jam.
