It would be awful bc Maron would have no frame of reference and would bring nothing interesting to the conversation. He's usually great, but every once in a while he gets a top-shelf guest and completely blows it.
The Neil Young interview was horrible.
The Paul Thomas Anderson movie wasn't too bad, but Maron was like "I haven't finished watching The Phantom Thread yet so I can't really ask you about that."
And how do you have Rick Baker on and not bring up American Werewolf In London?
maron is especially hit or miss with musicians. even though he plays guitar he just seems to have no frame of reference for talking to them about their creative process.
it would still be awesome though, mostly b/c ed never does shit like that.

You’ll be okay. Chin up.
that's some Bill Simmons pep talk shit right there
Hopefully, Bill will have one for Ed. I’m worried serious Ed will be a real yawner of an interview. Bill got some personality from Mr. Serious Interview himself Sean Penn though, so anything is possible.

Let’s hope pre, because if it’s post Ed will prob make me want to nap w all the politics. And while I agree w most of his politics, just, no. I know, wishful thinking.

Maron spends 40 minutes of every hour talking about himself. He’s a fuckin woeful interviewer.

Yeah, Maron is just not good for Ed.
He barely knows the work of the band.

Simmons thinks Trump is an idiot too and isn't bashful about saying it. He's definitely going to tee up a Trump question or two related to the coronavirus, especially since Ed's lyrics go in on Trump and they had the tour canceled. It's a topical thing to bring up.

I would love someone to ask them why CDM was jettisoned.

BS has been using PJ music for his intro/outro for a couple of years now, so I assumed this would happen eventually. It took longer than expected, but it's happening!

I assume there will be some political conversation, but I think it will be fairly minimal. As far as non-music topics, I think there will be much more about Michael Jordan/90's Bulls and Cubs/Red Sox. Also, BS is definitely bringing up the 1998 Great Woods show he attended.

Jeff has been on a few podcasts already and he is just an amazing guy to interview.

I got your back buddy. I can't listen to Simmons. I only tune in when Chuck Klosterman is on. I also disagree with CK a lot but he's a smart dude who always gives me something interesting to think about, even when we disagree. Simmons is just an asshat. He's become intolerable.

This is exactly what I want them to talk about, too. "From the forthcoming album" ... EXPLAIN!
