Yes, but it's a pity to me because the owner of these unique tapes is clearly more interested in being infamous than in actually preserving and restoring the tapes properly, regardless of what he will be sharing publicly.

I think he shared about 5 tracks over the last 5 years??? At this pace he will make it his lifework

How the hell is releasing 1 song a year beneficial to anyone, including him? So you get some praise from some 40 somethings on some internet message boards in the PJ community for a few days each year. Then what? Pretty douche move not to just release them all if that is your goal. Or don't, and just run around being that cool guy that can tell people he's heard shit we haven't.

it would be cool if the band release that song as a big fuck you to that guy

It would have been very easy for me to restore all these cassettes properly, one tape side at a time.

But this guy wanted me to remaster one or two random songs over an extended period of time.

So instead of mastering one tape side and chopping it up, I would have done 15 seperate songs over a long period or whatever.

I would have had to refer to mastering moves that I did months previously over and over again, if I even knew what tapes the songs were from.

So basically, he wanted to make my job 1,000 times harder so that he could prolong the rollout as long as possible for no good reason.

I seem to recall that Dave A put his PJ collection up for auction and the fans were getting together, trying to figure out how to snag it.

In the end, this dude outbid everyone for a substantital sum.

People were excited that a fan bought it, but that soon turned to disappointment when he turned out to be a douche who just wanted the attention.
