It's a riff on that. The Beatles do the same thing. Some of what's said is lifted directly from that version ("everybody had a year / everybody saw the sunshine")

I know PJ at one point references Singles: "everybody made a movie / everybody had one line"

I think the early 90s versions of I’ve Got A Feeling are great fun, but the last five years versions have been complete disasters. A sort of meta celebration of days gone by - “Hey! We used to play this live and now fans have a kitch for it so we’ll play it solely for nostalgic kicks”

I liked the early versions more than Happy When I’m Crying but I like the new versions way less. I might change my vote.
