Now that you mention it I do remember watching Quarry and thinking the main guy looked like Tom Hardy.

I wonder if mediocrity has anything to do with this. I mean, I can't imagine anyone confuses the stellar Daniel Day-Lewis with any other actor. He's so clearly distinctly DDL. Not to say many of these actors aren't good... but probably not on his level.
