I'd love to play this game but fear how much time I'd actually spend compiling my list. TBD.
im pretty sure it was one of his teachers from HSwease wrote:Goddamn, I love that line. It was that second verse that really made it click for me and propel it to top Pearl Jam for me.digster wrote:"with heavy breath, awakened regrets, back pages and days alone that could have been spent together but we were miles apart"
Has it ever been stated who the song is about? I remember Ed being kinda vague about it before but it seems like he actually identified the person somewhere.
Same. I not only like the words and what they mean, be I also like how they sound together. It's very pleasing to the ear.wease wrote:Goddamn, I love that line. I thought that was Long Road.warehouse wrote:im pretty sure it was one of his teachers from HSwease wrote:Goddamn, I love that line. i think you are right, long road was about his teacher. i'm not sure if he's ever said who 'light years' is about.wease wrote:I thought that was Long Road.warehouse wrote:im pretty sure it was one of his teachers from HSwease wrote:Goddamn, I love that line. At the 2000 Pinkpop performance, Ed says it was written for a Sony employee that he had befriended, Diane Mucus, who died in 1997.warehouse wrote:i think you are right, long road was about his teacher. i'm not sure if he's ever said who 'light years' is about.wease wrote:I thought that was Long Road.warehouse wrote:im pretty sure it was one of his teachers from HSwease wrote:Goddamn, I love that line. I do love that sequence in Indifferenceelliseamos wrote:I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky, but why?
Why can't it be mine?
Oh Dear Dad, can you see me now?
I am myself, like you somehow
I'll swallow poison until I grow immune
I'll scream my lungs out till it fills this room
Vacate is the word
Vengeance has no place so near to her
Cannot find the comfort in this world
Caught a bolt of lightning
Cursed the day he let it go
Do you see the way that tree bends? Does it inspire?
I miss you already... I miss you always.
I miss you already... I miss you all day.
One uninvited chromosome
A blanket like the ozone
Half his life, a hand me down, wasted away
He fills it up with the love of a girl
No matter how cold the winter
There's a springtime ahead
These are just the first 10 to come to mind as I think of each album and I've run out of slots... and I just realized I skipped Yield... I'm not going to think about this too much more because it would be never ending. Fuck You, Stip!
Should be Diane Muus, not Mucus. Typing too fast on the phone...wease wrote:Ah. I did think that was kind of an unfortunate name.Brett wrote:Should be Diane Muus, not Mucus. Typing too fast on the phone...wease wrote:Ah. Excellent choice, I like this one a lot too. I love the "clouds parting after the flood to reveal the heavens" feel of that moment in the song, with the drums dropping out and that organ droning in the background. Such a great song.epilogue wrote:"two birds is what they'll see, getting lost upon their way"
That's another one for me.
