Quick Escape is my favorite PJ song since Binaural. And it’s ahead of NFY, which is a great song.

I do need to add the ‘all that’s sacred ‘ sequence to my favorite lyrics list

I’m looking at these match ups through the lens of if I was going to go see Pearl Jam tomorrow, what would I like to see?

You can call it ‘recency bias’ if you like, but I think Quick Escape would be a much more interesting performance than 8 minutes of the same three chords in NFY. (The bridge and Stone’s solos are still great though.)

I could have voted for either. Not recency bias, but went for Quick Escape. I love the song. It’s in a lot of ways how I wished Gigaton would sound - some crazy textures and big fat rock song - it all fits and sorta has this thematic sequel to Evolution to it. It’s a keeper for me. Could still be my favorite off Gigaton (that and DotC).

May have a renaissance with NFY some time, but I honestly have started to dislike it lately. The call and response that it occasionally gets live over the last several years has really taken the bite out of the original sentiment. Rarely do I think 'man, you have totally lost the meaning of what this meant when it was new' at a PJ show, and NFY makes me feel that way.

QE is probably a top five song of their last 20 years, and if they figure it out live, it could be really special.
