Do you recommend it? I really enjoy MC's contributions to PJ and WWC, but the lukewarm reaction to Cavedweller on RM deterred me from checking it out.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Yikes not much love for Cavedweller on RM huh?

Yeah i enjoy it. Definitely had some Wellwater influences in there. Matt’s stuff usually has a unique “fuzziness” to them that i really enjoy.

I haven't heard "Can't Stop," but it's baffling why Stone didn't include "Shame on You" on Bayleaf -- it's insanely good and the best song of the bunch.Kevin Davis wrote:Bayleaf

Jeff's stuff has never done anything for me, and I've never heard Cavedweller -- I love Cameron's songwriting but after a few folks here who also love Cameron's songwriting had lukewarm reactions to it, it kind of fell off my radar.
As an aside, has anyone heard these bonus tracks from Bayleaf? I had no idea they existed until I happened upon the album's Wiki entry recently, and cursory searches for them have been unsuccessful.

I’d forgotten how much I liked Bayleaf. Thank you for introducing me to Shame on You. I’d never heard it; it’s fantastic. Stone is a better lyricist than Eddie these days.
God damn it I just want the next PJ album to be written entirely by Stone and Jeff. Is that too much to ask for.

'Can't stop' is kinda stupid but 'Shame on You' is fantastic! Since the Rockfords got their rights back Im hoping the same for 'Bayleaf'. It should get a re-release on vinyl with those bonustracks!
I also enjoyed that Stone track he released last year on that compilation:
Hopefully a third solo album will find it's way to Loosegroove

Re: Rank the solo albums
Definitely give cavedweller a chance if u enjoy Matt Cameron’s songwriting, backwards sounding riffs and slightly goofy vocals.
I think it’s mastered too loud and loses the instrument seperation it needs but overall each song has something to like about it, and it’s definatly a grower like all MC stuff.
Best tracks to start with:
Blind
All at once
Stones records are both amazing, his lyrics and songs are always thought provoking, perfectly awkward, and always have a great sense of tempo and groove. He manages to capture a good performance in all his recordings
