No Way gets plenty of love but i don't know that I've ever seen someone say it is their favorite on Yield. We are breaking new ground hereepilogue wrote:I love RM and won't be bummed of it wins. But saying goodbye to NW all be tough. NW is in a tier above. Easily my favorite song on Yield and a top 10 overall PJ track.

No Way (74) and Red Mosquito (69) are closely matched in average vote tallies.
RM's quarterfinal loss against Go beats out No Ways top 16 loss to Corduroy in terms of best result.

I picked "No Way," I always knew I was going to pick "No Way," but I felt like I had to pretend to think about it as a gesture. I love "Red Mosquito" -- a great transitional moment between the early and middle years, with elements looking in both directions. But "No Way" -- hey, it's a Stone song on Yield, and it sounds like one. I'd be hard pressed to dream of a combination of ingredients more suited to my tastes.

I'm with Joe and Kevin here. "No Way" is sublime, both in its songwriting construction and its sound art quality studio treatment. That's not a knock on the other songs, though. "Red Mosquito" is wonderful, and Kevin is spot on with his observation of it sounding like a song that's looking back and forward at the same time. I've come to have a good deal of appreciation for "Come Back" over the years, growing from seeing it as laughably bad to it now being a highlight of Avocado.

Stick with me, pal. I'm an unpopular Pearl Jam opinion factory!stip wrote:No Way gets plenty of love but i don't know that I've ever seen someone say it is their favorite on Yield. Whoever voted come back, switch your damn vote to no way right now.

Could somebody please make the case that Red Mosquito is better than mid-tier?

Actually nevermind. Naming the board after a mid tier song is quintessential RM.

It would be mostly a lyrical/thematic argument, which I don't think is what you want.tragabigzanda wrote:Could somebody please make the case that Red Mosquito is better than mid-tier?
Although by Pearl Jam standards RM is upper mid-tier or lower upper tier. But that still puts it ahead of No Way

Re: 20. No Way vs Come Back vs. Red Mosquito
I love come back and it certainly doesn’t get much appreciation here. I love Ed’s performance. Heartbreaking
I suppose it doesn’t belong in the same tier as the other two though
I rather listen to no way and it is an incredible studio capture but I suspect I’m taking red Mosquito for granted here
Hmm. TBD
