Imagine you are at your first show post COVID (hell, I haven't seen them since the Lightning Bolt tour). The lights go down. You are breathlessly awaiting the first notes to fill the room, hoping for that magical moment when they start to play All or None.
That's the fantasy of no more than 25 people tops, on this planet. It is entirely possible they all show up in this thread.
"All or None" would be an odd opener (actually deployed once, IIRC, at the Vic in '07), but I'd dig it. Mainly I'd just be happy to hear it anywhere in the set.
I've only had one "Release" opener, and man it was special. What a classic PJ moment, a "Release" opener. It would definitely be a more cathartic experience, especially in the extra-cathartic context you describe.
But, thinking about what these songs have meant to me over the years, "All or None" gets the edge, no disrespect to the competition.
