i wasnt a big fan of that album; Morning View was the last time i enjoyed a record from them, both LG and CLFTM had great songs and a lot of fillers too.

Except Megalomaniac. That song is balls.

I thought ACLOTM was their last good album. But man, what happened?

I really didn't enjoy anything they made after Morning View. ACLOTM was too abrasive and was bordering on tripe, Light Grenades wasn't too bad if a little bland. I basically stopped caring after that stage.

ACLOTM, abrasive? Not compared to their old stuff, surely.

I guess after coming from MV, which to me had a beautiful flow and groove to it. The band seemed to be in a really good place when they made that album.

ACLOTM didn't have that same feeling. There was no synergy. The grooves and flow were also missing, and there was an apparent abruptness in many of the tracks, which have me the impression they were angered by something. I often found BB yells, rather than sings on a few of the tracks.

Fair observations.

I never even bothered with this album. Looks like I haven't missed anything.

The Original (a track from that album) is my favourite Incubus song ever.

It's just a fuckin great pop record and Brandon's voice is so crisp. Incubus have always been a "neither here nor there" band in terms of their style and quality, so I don't see why it's so shocking that they made this album. Brandon's solo stuff is bad, yes, and Light Grenades isn't a very exciting listen. But Incubus are a great band, and probably the tightest live band I've ever seen.

Some of the jams on INNW are so bare-bones and chilled, it's great. In The Company Of Wolves is a great example, killer track.
I mean it sounds NOTHING like Make Yourself or anything, but it's a great record.

Have you got/seen the Morning View sessions DVD? It's amazing. A very laid back, intimate but sensationally tight performance. Recorded in 5.1 too, so the sound is totally earboner inducing if you've got a decent 5.1 setup.

Nah I haven't, will definitely check it out. I'm not the biggest fan of Morning View, I find the production weird and the album not all too cohesive. My favourite is Make Yourself by far, ACLOTM and INNW are close 2nds

You should, just because you will laugh your arse off. I mean, after the rage has died down.

Yeah, I fucking love that dvd. Everything about that performance was perfect. It was like having Dave A. back in Pearl Jam.

Even given the fact that I hate the music, my worst complaint about this album is that the band just doesn't feature in any interesting way. The music is just a backdrop for Brandon's vocal gymnastics. There were signs on ACLOTM that the band would move in that direction, but it became pretty bad. Jose's drumming skills are virtually non-existent on this album. I can acknowledge that the album is strong melodically, but otherwise it's a Brandon indulgence in my opinion because most of the songs are terrible and the band just doesn't show up.
