LOL there's no way Pearl Jam are playing for 40 minutes.
Hey they're coming that's great. But from my point of view this could be the only tour until 2017 judging on time frames past. A few possibly 40 minutes sets is disappointing. As I said I will probably end up dumping a grand or so in the morning and going to a few. But right now am a bit bummed that this is the best we can't get.Birds in Hell wrote:There's plenty of places in the States the band have ignored for years, I feel pretty lucky that a place like Adelaide gets a Pearl Jam show every few years.
Sheesh guys, it's a Pearl Jam tour! It's hardly a bad thing. It'll be a blast.
Yeah, I get that it might be annoying against the hype machine surrounding it. Obviously I've not seen or heard that.brisjam wrote:I guess down here it has been hyped and hyped about the line up to end all line ups. When you see that list it doesn't fit the bill. I would happily see any of those bands, or just about any band at all, at a smaller venue and not for $185. The only thing which will make me pay that kind of money is Pearl Jam in that lineup.harmless wrote:I don't really care, I'm not Australian, so there's no investment for me. But that's a pretty quality line-up in anyone's book, objectively. Whether you like the bands or not is down to taste but PJ have done worse.brisjam wrote:Birds in Hell wrote:I'm pretty sure they were limited by when the festival had arranged the announcement. They could have easily not done anything (which is what I expected), so I'm pretty impressed there's a fanclub pre-sale at all.brisjam wrote:It is not a 10C special pre sale as such. Same pre sale time is available through General Pants Co.Tim wrote:
Ten Club has arranged a special Ten Club members only pre-sale through the festival website. Pre-sale tickets will not be available through the Ten Club site. Due to the nature of festivals, there will not be a Ten Club early entry. Ten Club pre-sale tickets are simply being offered to help our members get tickets before the public pre-sale tickets sell out. Supplies are limited, tickets not guaranteed.
Pretty poor effort for Aussie fans really.
This is going to rule.
I do love ya enthusiasm Spenno but this is far from ruling in my book. Fairly average lineup and only 12 hours notice of presale. Normally I would hit just about every show but paying $370 per show for two people just to see PJ is not on. If they charge $300 a ticket to see them and a support act I would pay no worries. But the bogan day out is buzz killer. Never missed a tour and will probably damage the credit card tomorrow morning but at moment think will give it a miss.
Ten club basically did do nothing, same presale available to non fan club members. It is not a fan club pre sale really except for the pass code being Pearl Jam related.
Plus are Pearl Jam actually playing a full set. A lot of headliners play only 40 minute sets at Big Day Out.
Who knows, I won't be surprised if this ends up being their final Australian tour.brisjam wrote:Hey they're coming that's great. Actually I missed it that Pearl Jam are confirmed for two hours. Was a bit interested to know as seen a bit of chat about short sets for headliners. Turns out Arcade fire are doing 90 mins. Must be time wasting in there....Birds in Hell wrote:LOL there's no way Pearl Jam are playing for 40 minutes.
Me too, dude!WtOB? wrote:All I know is I'm gonna have a fantastic time in the summer seeing Pearl Jam and a bunch of other great bands.

You're only depriving yourself. Honestly, I'd take this over Etihad any day.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:This is bullshit. I just want a regular gig at Rod Laver. Etihad was a terrible venue for the last tour. I couldn't give a shit about the other bands at the BDO. So I'll need to pay $185 to see them do a shortened set, with poor sound and standing room only. Plus it'll be packed full of the usual drunk fuckwits that run amok at these festivals.
First world problems, I know. But fuck it, I'm not going.

I don't like to guess at the someone's age but I'm thinking the early twenties will enjoy this more than the mid thirties... I'm sure it will be a good day and all. But don't think there is anything wrong with expressing a wish for a proper tour at better venues. Gold Coast venue could be interesting....WtOB? wrote:You're only depriving yourself. Yeah, I've been before too. It's a pretty shitty atmosphere. They also setup the main stage in line with the afternoon/evening sun, so for several hours you couldn't see anything until the sun went behind the stage.brisjam wrote:Tim wrote:I've never been to a BDO. Pretty much what you would expect. In Sydney you get they drunk flag wearing fuckheads and usual stoned off their arse or worse druggies. Some people don't get it that alcohol and ecstasy don't mix when standing in the sun all day.
Its no worse than a night out in Cronulla or the Gold Coast...
