Thanks everyone. It was an interesting one for sure.

Long story that involves a full night in ED beside my daughter and her finally getting a bed on the renal ward at about 530am. I went up with her to settle her in and then left her to it to get some sleep (both her there and me at home).

As I walked out of the hospital I remembered my wife had taken the car home, so I thought I'd grab a cab. There was one cab at the rank and there was a lady walking behind me who, when I asked her, said she wanted it. I let her have it as I realised I could do with a nice cool morning walk.

I walked a few kilometres to the train station and went a few stops to the nearest McDonald's to grab a sausage mcmuffin as I realised I hadn't eaten since a sandwich at lunch time.

I sat there watching the sun beginning to poke it's head up and it occurred to me that I'd seen a few suns rise over the years on my bday nights, but never ever before had I been totally sober when it did. I must be getting older.
