That was a really good show. Eddie was cracking heaps of jokes and they all seemed super happy and into it. As much as I enjoyed some of the deeper album cuts the crowd vibe was electric when it was a song everybody knew. McCready must've given out at least 50 guitar picks. He was the most hyper I've ever seen him live.

Other notables were Cosmic Psychos after a bit of a slow start they really started firing about 5 songs in. Mudhoney were also great but they lost a lot of momentum with the crowd when Mark stopped playing guitar and just sang. Plus they closed with a few less well know tracks. Eddie also turned up about halfway through the Psychos set and watched both bands from the side of stage. There was a group of PJ nerds that were calling out trying to get his attention between songs. That was a little awkward.

Glad you enjoyed it, FC. Did you catch Arcade Fire or Vista Chino? And did you venture into the D for PJ?

I was in the D on Stones side but closer to the back. After the main set we moved further back in the crowd and the sound was much better. I couldn't hear Mikes leads in our original position. I also saw Tame Impala for a bit and the last half of the Drones. Gaz was fired up and throwing guitars about. It was intense.

Beady Eye were underwhelming. No effort or passion whatsoever aside from Liam and the drummer. The crowd didn't respond except for the Oasis covers. It smacked of a band just collecting the cheque.

Arcade fire isn't my thing but I did see the whole set while waiting at the Pearl Jam stage. It was energetic but for me it had a weird cult vibe or something.

I'm disappointed that I missed The Drones and Vista Chino because of all the overlaps.

Yeah, I think chances are slim I'll get to see Vista Chino on Friday.

Bummer.

I just checked out VC's setlists and it looks good. I'm throwing care to the wind and I'll end up wherever for PJ.

I'd like to try and catch at least 20-30 minutes of their set.

I'm hoping that there are folks who only catch 30mins of PJ then fuck off for s dogg or deftones.

VC end with a couple of tasty Kyuss tracks. 8-)

Yes. That's what I felt when I saw them in 07. As much as I enjoyed their set I felt like I wasn't involved. I will probably catch their last few tracks though.

:gomez:

I read reports Melbourne only had around 20-25k in attendance against (initial) expectations of 60k or so, doesn't look good for the future of the festival if true (seeing as Pearl Jam themselves pulled more than that in Adelaide last time around).

Too bad it wasn't a standalone Pearl Jam/Mudhoney/Cosmic Psychos tour, they probably would've come out ahead!

If I had my time over I'd probably move around a little more instead of seeing whole sets.

Yep, that would be a good show. And Vista Chino/The Drones wouldn't have been bad either.
