dad and doug...rm's paper boys..i don't know about you but once a month we had to go collect the $3.50 per month for home delivery..i had my money bag with me and and would always say i couldnt make change for a 5 so i could get a tip and buy baseball cards

i had a few routes; two where i had to collect the money, and one that was all pay-by-mail customers. i didn't care for collecting much. most times, the customers were jerks about paying, or wouldn't answer the door. i might've had about three people who were nice and tipped me.

i really enjoyed having a paper route tho. i would save up the money i made to buy nintendo games.

i also liked walking around before the sun came up, except for those rare occasions when there'd be skunks just waltzing around. oh, and one time i happened upon a parked car in the baseball field near our apartment. the driver-side door was all the way open, and some guy was lying on the ground next to the car. i saw him from a few hundred yards off, and i thought he was passed out drunk. turns out he'd shot himself. it was a day or two after the '87 stock market crash.

good lord...i remember that 87 crash in october..i was a junior in college and i remember having to subscribe to the wall street journal for a micro economics class..i never really liked that professor, he was always talking about investing in gold

i forgot a fun job i had..a good friend of mine was a lawyer at a firm in denver..i used to file documents at local courthouses and serve process when needed..the latter was a bit stressful at times
