Hartford '08 was also great, better than the 2 Mansfield shows.

i always thought this was a weird complaint considering the world series was happening directly across the street. should they have ignored it?washing machine wrote:Something about this recap... Why not?
Is it really such an outlandish concept to ignore it?

given the circumstances, yes, it would have been super weird and awkwardJorge wrote:Why not?

I don't understand why, but I'll chalk it up to cultural differences

it is pretty funny it's called the world series, yet one continent is truly invested.Jorge wrote:I don't understand why, but I'll chalk it up to cultural differences

it would be like a 2-game series in the champions league final, where one of the games is occurring across the street for the home team of that cityJorge wrote:I don't understand why, but I'll chalk it up to cultural differences

Re: What was the worst Pearl Jam show of all time?
The Philly '09 #2 performance itself was one long embarrassing train wreck. The setlist had great potential, but many songs were the worst performances of all time.
The score card girls thing was merely the cherry on top of the shit sandwich.
Maybe for folks who attended all four shows and were completely intoxicated, it was fine. But having paid an outlandish sum of money for my ticket and driven for 3 hours to get there, I wasn't particularly thrilled.
Reading endless posts about how the Philly shows were brilliant and taking abuse for voicing my opinion wasn't a good experience either. It definitely changed my view of the PJ fanbase and the band's dedication to putting on a good show.

Anyways, stay on topic. There’s absolutely no way it was the worst show of all time…sounds like it was just an event that the band made super weird and awkward by talking about somebody else’s event and playing mediocrely.

Noblesville 2010, I was seated next to a group of four. Dude at the far end of the group was drunk and obnoxious, and pissed off the guy on the other side of him...so they switched him to the opposite end of their group to separate them - putting him right next to me. He proceeded to be obnoxious for the remainder of the show. So that made it my worst PJ show of all time. Even worse than the drunk guy behind us at PJ20 night 2, who chose to use the opening as a piss break (appropriately, "Wash"), but didn't leave his seat to do so.

They are the worst MSG shows. Yuck. No More > Last Kiss > Why Go > Black Diamond was just a brutal stretch.liebzz wrote:Definitely the MSG 08 shows were great and get a bad rep from the backup singers…but as an experiment I thought it worked better than people give credit.daft twat wrote:Not if you were there. Re: What was the worst Pearl Jam show of all time?
Criticizing the scorecard girls is kinda wierd. She was on stage less than 2 minutes total. Got a big cheer each time. Ed's given score updates to fans throughout the band's career so this is not a new concept. I'm not a Phillies fan, but I thought that part was thoughtful and well done. If he had to verbalize the score update, he would have rambled on for a longer amount of time than she was on stage for.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:Thanks for proving my point, dipshit.warehouse wrote: lol jesus get off your high horse. they were playing 4 shows in philly and the phillies were playing in the world series at the exact same time directly across the street. no wonder people gave you shit for your opinion, you sound like a cry baby.
Night 2 was bad. Towards the bottom, if not the very bottom, of shows I've been to. MSG 2 2008 is down there too.

Absolute garbage performance. Such a bummer given Jeff's connection.

on a more serious note, i don't think this meets the criteria for addition to the poll
but i value your contribution
