of the girl has some great lines too.

Oh he deals them off of the top. Ties them off.
Fills it up with his past. Gets carried away.
Oh half his life a hand me down wasted away.
Oh he fills it up with the love of a girl.

When Binaural came out and I first heard that line I thought to myself "Ah, fuck. I bet that's how a lot of people I know would describe me."

Continuing the Binaural lyrics. So evocatively sad and fatalistic:

It was like a book he read in his sleep,... endlessly...
Sometimes he hid in his radio,... watching others pull into their homes
While he was drifting...

Any new realizations... would have to wait...
Til he had more time,... more time...
Time to dream,... to himself... he waves goodbye,
To himself... I'll see you on the other side...

"For every tool they lend us a loss of independence"

Eddie Vedder's most Libertarian lyric.

For an album where Ed was fighting writer's block, Binaural has a lot of good lines...

the mfc and leash lines are two of my favorites.

Two really great first lines

'tidal waves don't beg forgiveness/crash then on their way'

'this broken wheel is coming undone/and the road's exploded'

Well you know the pendulum throws..
Farther out to the one side swinging
Has to sweep back the other way

You've got time, you've got time to escape
There's still time, it's no crime to escape

The more you read, we've been deceived
Everyday it becomes clearer,...

Clearer.

The moment between us, the fire is made now, hot to the touch

Yea this one is intense. Hits too close to home far too often.

i'll dry up, leaving puddles on the ground

And I'm starting to believe
That this hopeless... situation
Is what I'm trying to achieve

Little secrets, tremors...turned to quake...
The smallest oceans still get...big, big waves...

How's our mother to damn these contributors with mud?
How will the man who made chemicals difficult shed blood?
How's our father supposed to be told?

That last line is just brutal. :(
