North by Northwest (1959)
Night Moves (1975)
Butch Cassidy/Sundance Kid (1969)
The Getaway (1972)
The Wild Bunch (1969)
Dunkirk (2017)
These are the movies I watched in the last week.
The best one was The Wild Bunch. Again, they were all very good, but The Wild Bunch was the standout.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)
The Meg 2 (2023)
Superman (1978)
Superman 2 (1980)
Downhill Racer (1969)
Surprisingly (to me, at least) the best one was Superman. I really loved it. Reeves, Kidder and Hackman were perfect. I also loved the way Marlon Brando mispronounced Krypton.
The Meg 2 I saw with my nephew. It was ok. Statham was actually really good. The CGI looked really bad, though.

Logan
Lean On Pete
Baby Driver
A Fantastic Woman
The Insult
Five really good movies this week. A rewatch of Logan was arguably the highlight, but Lean On Pete was the positive surprise. Really grew on me as the movie progressed, and I felt that it never fell into the movie tropes this kind of movie was almost destined for.

I've not heard of that movie, but I like the cast.

Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
Charade (1963)
Mississippi Burning (1988)
Equalizer 3 (2023)
Hoosiers (1986)
4 great movies and The Equalizer 3. It's a tough call this week, but I think I probably enjoyed Hoosiers the most. Mississippi Burning would be a close second.

Dirty Harry (1971)
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
TNMT: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
Convoy (1978)
The Killer Elite (1975)
El Dorado (1966)
Bad Day at Black Rock (1955)
The Terminator (1984)
Watched some really good movies last week and much to my surprise my favorite was probably El Dorado.
It's the first John Wayne movie I've ever watched and it was really great. A lot of that was down to Robert Mitchum, but John Wayne was good too.
The Terminator was a close number 2 - I saw that last night at the movie theater (I love Flashback Cinema) and had a great time.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Blade Runner 2049
Call Me By Your Name
I, Tonya
Wind River
The Shape Of Water
Good Time
Only The Brave
God's Own Country
Reached a bit of a climax with the 2017 movies this week, even if I've got about another week of 2017 movies left.
Only first time watch of those above was God's Own Country. It has been lingering in my mind since I saw it. It's a powerful movies about intimacy, finding yourself. It's about a gay couple, but each of the four characters and also the farm itself are important. It kind of snuck up on me what I had seen. At first I thought it was good, but once it was over, I was so happy that I had seen it, and kept smiling thinking about the final scenes.
Of the rewatches, the top two movies are outstanding, and we had a really good time watching them this weekend. Both are in my top four of 2017.

You should try The Searchers, Rio Bravo and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. I've seen all the John Wayne westerns, and have ranked El Dorado 8th (out of 90). It's good, but I think you may find one or two you like even better.

Thanks. I've always avoided John Wayne because I've viewed him as a phony (I always disliked Hulk Hogan as a kid too, they give off the same vibe) but I can't deny his screen presence. I'll look at the movies you recommended and add whichever of them is streaming to the top of my list.
Now I need someone to give me some good Mitchum recommendations. I've seen Thunder Road, Eddie Coyle and El Dorado.

Mitchum:
The Night Of The Hunter is easily his best. One of the best performances of any actor ever.
Out Of The Past
Ryan’s Daughter

Not much good can come from debating Hogan and Wayne here, but Hogan comes off as a patethic liar these days. Wayne is a lot more complicated, however he was always a hard worker, and fair to everyone on the movie sets he worked on. Even his politically opposite co-star said this: “Wayne is the one who called me in London. ‘Hey Kirk, I think this is a part you ought to play.'” Douglas added: “We get along well, we never discuss politics. But he’s the first guy on the set, the hardest worker I’ve ever worked with, and I think he’s quite a character.

I thought it was OK but not up to that original series. Mind you, the original series was some of the best TV I've ever watched, so it was always going to be hard to match up.
The series allowed more time to flesh out Luther's emotions and inner demons and stuff, the movie moves a lot faster.
