I'd rather them get it right than make the mistake so many games do and release it before it's ready. Take your time, Rockstars. And please, try not to make this one violent.

I'm all for them taking their time/developing/releasing it right but.....jesus christ. Going to be over 12 years when VI finally drops (if not longer)

Fwiw, Take Two had an earnings call last week and said GTA VI is still on track for a Q3/Q4 release. Debbie Downers have pointed out that RDR2 had a similar release estimate but had a delay announced in May of that year, so we’ll see.

If we can stagger release Borderlands 4 and GTA6 that'd be great thanks.

And Mario. And Fable.

I think almost all publishers will avoid GTA's launch window. Nintendo probably doesn't care though.

I wonder when they'll announce GTA VI's release date. Probably before Summer Games Fest in late May/early June, right?

Borderlands 4 has an official release date of September 23rd. Makes you think the absolute earliest GTA could come would be late October.

I don't expect Borderlands 4 to be a big hit unless it changes up the formula a bit. The buzz around 3 died pretty quickly and there has been such a long time between games.

3 didn't hit because incel types were vocal about casting choices and story beats they didn't like. Real Borderlandsheads loved it for its gameplay, which featured a lot of big jumps from Borderlands 2.

Don't forget that there was Wonderlands between BL3 and BL4 as well. I thought it was fantastic but it only really required one playthrough.

Remains to be seen if they feel like GTA needs to be tied to a Christmas period or if it is such a behemoth that it can ignore those typical release window considerations.

Either way Take Two will be raking it in.

You're probably right about Nintendo. Different crowds.

A new Fable game intrigues me. Spent a lot of time with the first one and lost touch with the series after that.

They'll release it whenever it's ready and sell 15 million+ copies, regardless of the month.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

Will probably make this a digital copy - don't want to deal with physical copies in stores, given the expected demand.

Very excited for social media videos of people trying to install this on their PS4 a la NCAA 24.

I’ve had a Series X for three years and the only game I bought on release day at full price was Baldurs Gate 3, which didn’t have a physical option. I’ve been saving my Xbox points for this, so it’ll be digital for me. Not gonna shell out for any early access, though.

30 percent of PS5 sales were physical copies in 2023 (most recent data). They'd be leaving money on the table if they went fully digital for this.

Because of all the searching I’m doing for RDR2 stuff, I’m getting recommended a lot of GTA suggestions. Boy, the reddit community for this game reads like the Pit before a Pearl Jam tour announcement.
