where is she now?
Still back in the old hometown. She works at the hospital in the town I’m in now. Well, she did. I assume she’s still there. It’s probably been 20 years or so since I’ve seen her.
Hey you. I still have this tape if you need it back. Would love to see you!

I still remember Stone saying it was going to be called “5 Against 1” during an interview at the VMA’s where they later debuted Animal, played Rocking in the Free World w/ Neil and then won best music video for Jeremy. Though I haven’t seen it in years, my CD doesn’t have an album title on it. I think it was the first CD I owned that wasn’t jewel case. Beast.

HI ANDY!
Hey bud, hows it?
:bammer:

I remember doing a Vs. 10 year appreciation thread on the old board in 2003 so I thought, eh, I’ll give it another go. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago.

Fucking amazing record. But bringing back Dave A would be the lamest thing they've ever done.

We are talking about stip here, so unfortunately he's being serious.

Vs. can turn 30 any time. Lightning Bolt only gets to be ten years old once.

Any vinyl heads have an opinion on:

Which pressing sounds better, 1993 OG or 2011 reissue/remaster?

I liked Ten well enough. I was sorta suspicious of them as a band. Is it new? Is it this grunge thing? It’s sounds like classic rock/dad rock to my ears.

But then Vs came
I heard Go on a music tv show.
Next day sent into town with money to buy schoolbooks for the new year and I ‘forgot’ to buy the German textbook and bought Vs on cassette. (Mine said Five Against One, also)

Never looked back. This was my band :)

Great story.

It was a bit similar to me. My older brother loved them when Ten came out (he later lost most interest, and some time after Yield he drifted away from Pearl Jam for good). I didn’t quite get it. Him and a cousin of mine was watching MTV when the news of this album broke. They called it V.S. (First the letter V, then the letter S, in English). Even if I was 3-5 years their junior, I said that the name must be pronounced Versus. We soon found out I was right. Heard the album a while after that, and was sold, on both Ten and Vs. Been my band since then.

yeah, similar to what happen to me in terms of not being very blown away with Ten and this being the first time i kinda become obsessed with the band.

Same.

Black is probably the only song on Ten that I come back to.
Sometimes Garden also.
But that's it.
And I'm a devout PJ head through and through.

And to think that I had bought the Vs CD by accident! I, a young boy, was sent to Tower Records to get Dad something by Pink Floyd. To my shame I misremembered the band name. I knew it started with a P. But what came after it? Very vague. Anyways, the place was crawling with posters and promo materials for an album by a band that did start with a P! It had a weird sheep on the cover, but judging how everyone seemed to treat it as THE NEXT BIG THING, obviously this must be what Dad was after, right?

So I bring it home and he takes a look at it and goes "wth is this shit? I said Pink Floyd! PINK FLOYD!"

So I ended up keeping it and I gave it a spin and the rest is history.
