Why does it need to be done

I ask this non confrontationally, as someone who only drinks about once a month I'm curious what a month of no drinking accomplishes
You just need to drink more to understand

This is actually a fair question.

Explain your reasons so Trag can disagree with them, Christopher.

sometimes i just need a reset, and it's good for my mental health as much as for my physical health.

"Reset" is probably the best answer. For me, these last few years, Dry January neatly coincides with training for winter/spring half marathon training. Maybe next year I'll do a dry jan-feb and train for a full marathon.

I broke down and sipped on a little whiskey that arrived in the mail as a thank you gift from a buddy who I lined up Sugar Bowl tickets for.

Can’t remember. I drank a LOT on January 8th and I’ve been paying for it all week. Considering dry Jan for the rest of the month.

For those who love tracking all things under the sun.

https://athleticbrewing.com/pages/track-record

My streak ended on Sunday with a celebratory beer after a big race, but I'm back on it now.

I'm planning to follow dry January with a low abv February. Session beers, less than 10% abv wines like reislings, and not at home, feel like a good compromise for what I'm trying to do, which is balance a love of beer and wine with overall mental and physical health.

I don't remember the last time I had an alcoholic beverage. Summer sometime.
