These guys are in their 50's and 60's. If you didn't think they'd become a standards/legacy act at some point, that is on you. It is also the first tour of the new album. I'm pretty sure 7 or 8 songs out of 25 being the same each show isn't going to deter the Jamily. Also, lol, the Jamily would follow them around if they knew they'd get one different song every night.

100% this. We don't really have a right to complain after decades of fan-service, but it's jarring and out of character.logan5ive wrote:I love the band...love the new album...and have seen quite a few shows since '93. But when have they ever done a structured set list like this for 3 shows in a row? At this point, we basically know 1/3 of the show in terms of what songs are played and where in the set list.
Could it be just a glitch or a blip in the matrix?
Is it because of the new screen?
Is this the new normal?
Let's face it...their bread and butter is fans travelling to see multiple shows (and buying tons of merch) and they've admitted to that. Once they start down this path, I think they'll see those numbers dwindle. And it doesn't help that tickets aren't getting any cheaper.
Yes, I'm whining. Yes, they can do whatever the hell they want. I just never thought they'd do this.
It also kinda turns the Dark Matter "Era" into planned a pee break & refreshments window which sucks because they are all good songs that sound great live.

Friday night in Portland, during Seven O’clock was the biggest piss break exodus I saw. Crowd seemed locked in on the DM sections.

This was my experience in Vancouver as well. The new stuff sounds so fucking good. People seem to be digging it. I love this format so much for this tour. If they tour in the years between DM and album 13, I’d expect something different. For now, it’s almost perfect. If I had one minor complaint, it’s the lack of Gigaton. That album never really felt like it was properly supported, and I understand why, but I’d love to see a couple songs from it at each show.swan wrote:Friday night in Portland, during Seven O’clock was the biggest piss break exodus I saw. Man, I really don't get the Jamily. People are upset because why? They're playing the same four songs in a row?

Especially considering how many bands of their status would be changing maybe ONE song per set list.Strat wrote:Man, I really don't get the Jamily. People are upset because why? They're playing the same four songs in a row?

It feels out of character to have a predictable portion of the setlist. Not good or bad, just very different than the past where highly dynamic setlists were a point of pride. Again not good or bad but different than what fans have come to expect.Strat wrote:Man, I really don't get the Jamily. People are upset because why? They're playing the same four songs in a row?

I mean, theyve been closing the show with Alive, RITFW/Baba, ledbetter for the last 20 years *shrugs*Bi_3 wrote:It feels out of character to have a predictable portion of the setlist. Yeah, it's a weird complaint. You can point to a certain setlist "formula" for about half of their tours and the encores have been especially predictable lately.Strat wrote:I mean, theyve been closing the show with Alive, RITFW/Baba, ledbetter for the last 20 years *shrugs*Bi_3 wrote:It feels out of character to have a predictable portion of the setlist. the only thing weird are the multiple extra people on stage whose instruments you cannot hear

Good to see a Pendulum appearance. I always thought that song sounded great live.
