its interesting this seems to be the main order of the album. they are working everything around these 4 songs in this order.

It’s all very fascinating. It’s hard to imagine (yes pun intended) hearing Hard to Imagine in the context of this album. If anything, it could work to open the album as a sonic and thematic transition from Vs. into Vitalogy, which makes sense in light of the quick turnover between the two albums (13 months is the fastest turnaround they ever had between albums). Indifference > Hard to Imagine > Last Exit actually seems like a cool concept to bridge the two albums.

I know people love Vitalogy, but I always felt it was a missed opportunity towards reaching greatness. But with a few changes, replacing some of the weaker songs, with strong ones, as well as retracking it, and it could have been the band’s best album.

So simply from an arithmetic point of view

we would have ended up without Stupid Mop and Bugs existing

as opposed to us now having all those songs from the list AND Stupid Mop and Bugs

and somehow that would be BETTER?

«The band wrote many of Vitalogy’s songs during soundchecks on the Vs tour, and most of the album’s tracks were recorded during breaks in the touring schedule. The first session occurred in late 1993 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where the band recorded “Tremor Christ” and “Nothingman”. The rest of the material was written and recorded in 1994 in sessions in Seattle, Washington and Atlanta, Georgia, with the band finishing the album at Bad Animals Studio in Seattle after the tour’s completion.

Before Vitalogy’s release, drummer Dave Abbruzzese was fired in August ’94»

Umm, yeah!
We never needed Stupid Mop other than for nightmare fuel and Bugs is a B-Side at best.
It doesn't make much of a difference if you're an all digital, spotify playlist kinda guy.
But if you're a physical media kind of guy, just imagine that puppy on vinyl.

Like I wrote above, I think those two songs exist in the No Code era, but still, it’s about having a better album. Stupid Mop could have been a b-side to a Christmas single. Bugs a b-side to a single.

They really aren't Vitalogy-era songs. Great songs tough.

Complaining about the novelty tracks on "Vitalogy" and suggesting better track listings is about as lame and played-out as it gets.

While we're at it, let's discuss how to shrink the White Album down to a single LP so we can remove "Revolution 9".
