Did you instill in them a feeling of disinterest beforehand?

No. They don't know what to expect. Maybe if they are excited it will convince me of something

I went outside and looked directly at it, no biggie. I think that means I get my own planet.

We only get 88% here but kids think it’s super cool

I don't have any eclipse glasses so I can't look at it, but it's getting pretty dark

Only 77% here. The "dark even though it is light out" effect was cool.

Dark clouds just rolled in over the whole sky, 8 minutes before our peak of 97% here. Hard to know if the slight dimming is the clouds or the moon

Totality achieved in northeast Texas. Clouds parted enough. At second contact, birds took cover in the trees and cicadas started humming. Totality was darker than I had expected it to be. Eerie moment. Memorable experience that felt nearly out of time, and then it was over. The rest of the day felt weird, like it was a second chance at daylight. We spent the rest of the afternoon fishing.

Surely wasted time. The fish all would have 100% been like "What the fuck just happened??" and been extra fishy-cautious.
