It was a new era, Lenny. You were living in it. You were thriving in it. It was glorious. Don't let these cretins drag you, and us, back to those dark days. It's not good for you, it's not good for us, it's not good for them

Just ignore it. Let people be. Ruddo even started a thread essentially about it, which tells me he’s incapable of doing so

a day for some will come when this era presently lived in now will be referred to as the gloury days, as difficult as it may be to realize, in all the present histrionic haze of wanton self-imposed regret of days long passed and librarian hands fourever unhad, unchanged, unknown

forgive him, Lenny.

he sees me through the lens of RM Moderator, so the truth is distant and blurry. he is beset by ignorance, not malice.

we must do well to keep in mind Marcus Aurelius’s maxim of premeditated pessimism:

Begin each day by telling yourself: Today I shall be meeting with interference, ingratitude, insolence, disloyalty, ill-will, and selfishness – all of them due to the offenders’ ignorance of what is good or evil. But for my part I have long perceived the nature of good and its nobility, the nature of evil and its meanness, and also the nature of the culprit himself, who is my brother (not in the physical sense, but as a fellow creature similarly endowed with reason and a share of the divine); therefore none of those things can injure me, for nobody can implicate me in what is degrading. Neither can I be angry with my brother or fall foul of him; for he and I were born to work together, like a man’s two hands, feet or eyelids, or the upper and lower rows of his teeth. To obstruct each other is against Nature’s law – and what is irritation or aversion but a form of obstruction.”

Oh it’s all good. Just two bros existing in the same space without communicating directly.

at the end of the day, alex just wants to be loved, but perhaps he's looking in the wrong places, perhaps as an act of self-destruction, which certainly evokes some degree of pity, but then I consider we are all exercising the same mission but with more subtlety, perhaps... perhaps alex is holding a parodic mirror to the rest of us, and maybe we should look upon it

it’s like people can’t recognize a meta-textual commentary even if it walks right up to them and softly whispers into their ear.
