yeah i've never liked this song, at all
I agree with this sentiment. I always liked Gone but that's probably because of the personal connection it had to me when it first came out.EJ wrote:At most, this should've been an Ed solo song. The band sure did make a dull song out of it.
Truly amazing the same guy wrote a song like Grievance just a few years prior.evenslow wrote:it's ed working in complete sleep mode. how it didn't forever stay as a demo is dumbfounding, especially considering they had (at least) Let It Ride and Cold Confession and Of The Earth in their back pocket.
i have an rational hate for the song b/c of the origin story in which it was added on super late in the process of S/T, which, by all accounts, was a slog in the studio (and by that I mean the good kind of slog aka hard work). Gone was the canary in a coal mine for post S/T - simple demos, less work, less collaboration, more BOB.Strat wrote:Truly amazing the same guy wrote a song like Grievance just a few years prior.evenslow wrote:it's ed working in complete sleep mode. how it didn't forever stay as a demo is dumbfounding, especially considering they had (at least) Let It Ride and Cold Confession and Of The Earth in their back pocket.

I disliked it until the WOR2 show in 2013 and something about that version changed my perspective on it. It's a solid 3 stars now.VinylGuy wrote: These days i like it.
