Would a lightning bolt kill them on the spot if they did something like this and stream/broadcast it on a free service like youtube?
they have their own sirius/xm channel cheapass.

it's 2013 - this will reach the masses quickly regardless.
Look I never bitch about this kind of stuff, far from it. I wasn't even bothered by the Target deal.
It's exactly like you said it's 2013 it's not like there aren't options out there or better said cheap options. If they are going to do one of this things - and i'd be surprised if there were more than one - they may as well do it in a way that doesn't require a subscription. It would also be smarter promotionwise.

Like it or not, they do have a Sirius/XM channel. Sirius/XM does these "town hall listening parties" all the time for different artists (Springsteen being one).

And again, I'm sure we will hear this soon enough anyway via someone who records it or internetz it or whatever.

And again, we don't know what's to come PR-wise from this album yet. Once we get into the home stretch (say, sept. 15 and after), I'm sure we'll get an embarrassment of riches.

It doesn't bother me to the point of arguing about it to tell you the truth.

I guess besides the EPK the exclusive video content the 10C orders of LB are supposed to get as downloads are going to be longer versions of interviews from the EPK and Betterman (live) obviously.
